The 142 features Auto-Set, which eliminates the guesswork of setting voltage and wire feed speed for your MIG welding application. Simply select the material thickness and wire diameter while the welder is in the Auto-Set mode, and you are ready to weld. The Auto-Set control automatically sets your welder to the proper parameters. It is available when welding mild steel with solid wire and C25 shielding gas (75% Argon, 25% CO2), AND while welding aluminum with an OPTIONAL Spoolmate™ 100 or Spoolmate™ 150 spool gun and argon shielding gas. Manual MIG welding control is also available for those welders who wish to fine tune their welding arc. Manual welding mode must also be used when MIG welding aluminum, stainless steel or for flux-cored welding. The parameter door chart lists voltage and wire feed speed settings options. Auto Spoolgun Detect™ automatically detects when a MIG gun or spool gun is connected eliminating the need for a switch. Smooth-Start™ provides a smooth, spatter-free start. It is the best-starting machine in the small MIG machine category. Thermal overload protection shuts down unit and activates the over temperature light if airflow is blocked or duty cycle is exceeded. Automatically resets when unit cools. Fan-On-Demand™ cooling system only operates when needed, reducing noise, energy use and the amount of contaminants pulled though the machine. Uses 4 inch or 8 inch (102 or 203 mm) spools and can be set up to weld with .024 to .030 inch (0.6 to 0.8 mm) solid wire and .030 to .035 inch (0.8 to 0.9 mm) flux-cored wire.
