A Very Rare Large 19th Century Irish Country House Giltwood Overmantel Mirror

Description: A very rare 19th Century Irish Country House finely hand carved giltwood overmantel mirror of exceptional quality and grand proportions.  The mirror glass plate of shaped, rectangular form is set within a fabulous moulded and fluted giltwood frame with a gorgeous band of scroll, leaf and berry motif detail throughout with the shaped top panelled corner returns featuring decorative arrangements of trailing foliate and applied flowerhead paterae.  Surmounted with an exquisite crest composition of a centred stylised cabochon with beaded row, linen drapes, scrolls and acanthus leaves flanked with trailing leaves and berries, stunningly carved in high relief, raised over a stepped overhanging fluted pediment above a simple frieze with a decorative row of acanthus leaves.  Supported on shaped platform base with beautiful arrangements of Greek Key, beaded row, scroll and trailing acanthus leaf motif detail to each panelled side.   Dimensions: H: 78.5 in / 198.5 cm   W: 65 in / 165 cm   D: 8 in / 20 cm C To C: 57 in / 145 cm  Stock Reference No: A3618
