Description: A very fine pair of 19th century marble cassolettes of exceptional quality and of grand proportions. This impressive pair are beautifully hand modelled in striking cream marble and richly decorated with well cast ormolu mounts throughout. The domed lid features a gorgeous ormolu acorn finial, foliate and twisted rope border detail raised above a gracefully tapering ovoid body flanked to the sides with a stunning pair of finely cast polished ormolu handles with acanthus leaves, ribbon bow and beading linked with fabulous swags of rich arrangements of exqusitely detailed foliate and flowerheads. Raised on a ring turned socle with decorative leaf border detail and supported on stepped platform marble base of square form with conforming beaded row detail, terminating on elegant toupie foot.
