Description: A very rare Irish 19th Century harlequin set of twenty four well figured mahogany dining chairs attributed to 'Butlers' of Dublin. This stunning set of chairs comprises of twenty two chairs and two carvers, they are of exceptional quality, finely hand carved with beautifully rich patination, grain and have been fully repolished. The bow shaped top rail with ruffles, acanthus leaves, c-scrolls and foliate motifs is raised over a pierced back splat featuring distinctive double c-scrolls and an interlocking weaved design raised over a padded upholstered seat, the carver chairs with shaped open arms with acanthus motif detail above curved supports. The simple apron with gorgeous gadroon detail is supported on outswept legs with pad foot to the rear and elegantly tapering cabriole legs to the fore with acanthus leaves on knee, terminating on a finely carved claw and ball foot. Mahogany Type: 'Santos Mahogany' The upholstery needs replacing which we can organise.
